From Matthew Kennedy:
When I met up with Joey at school today, I had some good news for him. I had just seen the doctor about my knee and was cleared to snowboard on our trip to Colorado next week. I also commented to Joey that he looked really cool today, and looked sort of like a rapper. He was wearing a green bucket hat, camouflage shirt, hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and Timberland boots. So, for our one-on-one RPM lesson I suggested that Joey write a rap about snowboarding and Colorado, and he was happy to oblige.
I also picked one word from each line and had him hold the board for himself and spell them again on his own. The words he spelled are snow, stand, shred, eyes, fly, happy, girl, and five.
Here is Joey’s rap:
THE SNOW WILL FALL FROM THE SKY (title)
THE MOUNTAINS STAND TO THE SKY
THE SOON TO SHRED GUYS TONE THEIR SOON TO SHRED EYES
TO THE WEST WE WILL IN THE SKY AIR AGAIN FLY
REALLY YOUNG HAPPY COOL GUYS TOE TURN ON THEIR EDGES, REALLY NOT SHY
NEW CLOTHES STYLE THEIR BODIES AND PLEASE THE GIRLS EYES
THEY TOTALLY TRY TO GO TO RADIO* TO BUY WITH MOM TO IN THE STORE HIGH-FIVE
FROM NOW TO THEN TIME WILL GO FLYING BYE
PLEASE, I’M ALREADY THERE IN MY MIND’S EYE!
*Radio is Joey’s favorite snowboarding store in Aspen.
